GST Calculator

Calculate GST, CGST & SGST for Indian transactions.

Note: CGST and SGST are applicable for intra-state (within the same state) supplies. For inter-state supplies, IGST (Integrated GST) applies instead, which is the full GST rate. This calculator assumes intra-state supply.

How to use GST Calculator

1

Enter the amount in the Amount field.

2

Select the applicable GST rate (5%, 12%, 18%, 28%) or choose Custom to enter your own rate.

3

Choose "Add GST" to calculate the total amount including GST, or "Remove GST" to find the base amount.

4

View the breakdown showing base amount, CGST, SGST, and total.

How it works

The calculator uses standard GST formulas for Indian taxation:

  • Add GST: Total GST = Amount × (Rate / 100), CGST = GST / 2, SGST = GST / 2, Total = Amount + GST.
  • Remove GST: Base Amount = Amount / (1 + Rate / 100), GST = Amount − Base Amount, CGST = GST / 2, SGST = GST / 2.

CGST (Central GST) and SGST (State GST) each make up half the total GST for intra-state supplies. For inter-state supplies, IGST (full GST rate) applies instead.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is GST?
GST (Goods and Services Tax) is a comprehensive indirect tax levied on the supply of goods and services in India. It replaced multiple indirect taxes like VAT, service tax, and excise duty. Standard rates are 5%, 12%, 18%, and 28%.
What is the difference between CGST, SGST, and IGST?
CGST (Central GST) and SGST (State GST) are each half of the total GST and apply to intra-state supplies (buyer and seller in the same state). IGST (Integrated GST) is the full GST amount and applies to inter-state supplies (buyer and seller in different states).
How do I add GST to a price?
Enter the base price, select the GST rate, and use the "Add GST" tab. The calculator will show you the GST amount split into CGST and SGST, and the final total amount.
How do I remove GST from a total amount?
Enter the total amount (including GST), select the GST rate, and use the "Remove GST" tab. The calculator will extract the base amount, GST, and show the CGST/SGST breakdown.
Can I use a custom GST rate?
Yes. Select "Custom" from the GST rate dropdown and enter any rate between 0 and 100.
